The Division also cares for children undergoing lung transplantation, and a large population of children who are technology dependent, receiving invasive or non-invasive home ventilation.
Clinical and translational research in the Division focuses on regulation of postnatal development and growth of the lung; biochemical and molecular regulation of membrane ion channels and function in cystic fibrosis; developmental aspects of respiratory mechanics and ventilatory control; multicenter clinical trials in sleep, transplant populations, muscular dystrophy and cystic fibrosis; physiologic studies in children with asthma, pulmonary hypoplasia, neuromuscular diseases, chest wall disorders, sleep disordered breathing and micrognathia; neurobehavioral consequences of sleep disorders; and endocrinologic complications of cystic fibrosis. The Division participates in the CF Foundation Therapeutic Development Network, the Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia Center network, and the child interstitial lung disease network.

The Division Chief reports to the Chair of the Department and works closely with the other Division Chiefs, the Associate Chairs, and the Vice Chair in the Department of Pediatrics.
