The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA Little Rock) Department of Applied Communication invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor – Applied Communications (R97934) position starting Fall 2018. Our departmental mission is to co-create better social worlds through positive communication, in professional and interpersonal settings, and we have received multiple awards and accolades for our innovative teaching methods. This past year’s successful program review brought special recognition for our emphasis on applied communication, ethical communication, and interdisciplinary linkages in our teaching, scholarship, and service.

To help us continue meeting our mission, we are seeking an interpersonal or organizational communication scholar with applied communication research and teaching interests in conflict management, interpersonal or organizational communication, and crisis communication. The position includes teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and weekend formats. Candidates will be expected to (1) work positively with faculty, staff, students, and the community, (2) teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, (3) have an active research agenda in applied communication, and (4) participate in university and community service. Required Education and/or Experience: ABD in Communication or closely related field; Teaching experience in a college setting; interest in Applied Communication pedagogy and research.

Preferred Education and/or Experience: Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related field; Teaching experience in a college setting in both online and traditional formats; Teaching experience in conflict management, interpersonal or organizational communication, and crisis communication; Research in applied communication, consistent with departmental focus on positive communication in interpersonal and organizational communication contexts.
