Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, announced that the Council on Social Work Education’s Commission on Accreditation has granted initial accreditation to the university’s bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in social work. The programs will be accredited through 2021. Accredited bachelor’ degree programs must offer undergraduates 400 hours of field experience.
Charlla Allen, director of the social work program at Central State University, noted that “this programmatic accreditation ensures that the graduate will be recognized as one who is academically prepared for a candidate for a licensed professional, for practice within the 50 states.”
Dr. Pedro Martinez, provost and vice president for academic affairs, added, “It’s a great honor that the Department of Social Work has received the approval of the social work degree by the Council on Social Work Education. Receiving full accreditation validates that Central State University’s social work program has met the accreditation standards of quality and that it provides our students with a superior academic experience.”
