Goucher College — Assistant Professor, Data, Mathematical, and Computational Sciences

Goucher College invites applications for a tenure-track position to further develop its new Data Analytics graduation requirement and assist in launching a new interdisciplinary program in Data Science or Data Analytics. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. by the start date of August 2018.

The Center for Data, Mathematical, and Computational Sciences seeks a colleague who enjoys working in a diverse and international community of learners, and, especially, has a passion for pedagogical and curricular innovation within the liberal arts. In addition, the professor in this position will assist in launching a new interdisciplinary program in Data Science or Data Analytics. This will give the professor opportunities to collaborate with those in other disciplines on Data Science curriculum development and research projects. Consequently, candidates must have significant experience in Data Science/Analytics or actively engage in research that utilizes and develops advanced data analysis techniques. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or other related fields which significantly emphasize data analysis techniques. Preference will be given to those candidates that propose a curriculum that crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries and values linking the classroom to the broader community in their application package. The teaching load is five courses per year. To support their work as excellent teachers and scholars, Goucher faculty may elect to apply for various internal curricular and research grants and to participate in professional development programs offered through our Center for the Advancement of Scholarship and Teaching.
