College Choice Offers Its Take on the Nation’s Best HBCUs

College Choice.com, which ranks colleges and universities on a wide range of criteria, recently released its rankings of the 50 Best Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The website is an independent online publication that says it is “dedicated to helping students and their families find the right college.”

The website ranked the HBCUs based on student-to-faculty ratio, incoming student test scores, regional accreditation, and return on investment, or the difference between tuition costs and expected early career salary.

Howard University in Washington, D.C. ranked first on the College Choice list. Spelman College, which traditionally leads the rankings of best HBCUs on the widely read listings compiled by U.S. News & World Report, ranked second on the College Choice list. Hampton University in Virginia held the third spot. Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas, ranked fourth and Xavier University in New Orleans was fifth.
