Virginia State University Announces a Series of Executive Appointments

Historically Black Virginia State University has announced a series of executive appointments.

Tia Minnis is the new associate provost for academic affairs. She had been serving as executive director of assessment and effectiveness at Clark Atlanta University. Dr. Minnis is a graduate of Savannah State University in Georgia, where she majored in business administration and computer information systems. She holds an MBA and a master’s degree in technology from Georgia Southern University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Clark Atlanta University.

Kawachi A. Clemons was named special assistant to the provost and vice president for academic affairs. He had been serving as associate dean for academic affairs and as an associate professor in the College of Education at Florida A&M University. Dr. Clemons holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Florida A&M University. He earned a master’s degree in performing arts management at Florida International University in Miami and a doctoral degree in education from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Charmica Epps is the new director of alumni relations at Virginia State University. She was the director of alumni relations at Virginia Union University in Richmond. Epps is a graduate of Virginia Union University, where she majored in mass communications. She holds a master’s degree in sport management from Virginia State University.
