University of Pennsylvania — Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics (Tenure-Track)

The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Biochemistry and Biophysics with a focus on transformative/ disruptive technologies, including but not limited to cryo-EM, advanced imaging and spectroscopic methods, proteomics/ metabolomics, chemical biology, and other biophysical or computational approaches as applied to biomedical research.

Responsibilities include establishing a vigorous and independently funded research program while contributing to graduate and medical school education of the University. An outstanding start-up package will be provided for the successful candidate. Applicants must have an M.D and/or Ph.D or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and research.

The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics is a collaborative environment of over 20 primary faculty, including members of the National Academy, Royal Society, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute, who bring together a wide range of expertise with a common goal of understanding molecular mechanisms of key biological and pathological processes and their physical and chemical underpinnings. We seek individuals who have demonstrated a strong record of independent accomplishments and will interact productively with colleagues within the Department and across the Penn Medicine and University of Pennsylvania campus.
