Rutgers University–Camden, one of three regional campuses comprising Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, seeks a new Vice Chancellor for Student Academic Success (SAS).

Founded in 1926, Rutgers–Camden continues to build on its extraordinary past while charting a bold course for the future, enhancing the campus’s physical environment; creating new academic programs to meet emerging workforce needs; deepening its commitment to the greater Camden community; and forging partnerships with the region’s business, civic, and government leaders. The Vice Chancellor will assume this role amidst a surge of tremendous energy and excitement as the university embarks upon a period of growth.

Reporting to Chancellor Phoebe A. Haddon, the Vice Chancellor is a member of the university’s executive team and works closely with the Provost, Deans and other units serving undergraduate students. The Vice Chancellor is tasked with developing, implementing, and assessing bold and imaginative initiatives to foster undergraduate academic success at Rutgers-Camden. As an institution-wide leader, the Vice Chancellor is expected to promote a culture in which all students feel welcome and supported, assuring that the success of students is a priority across all levels of the campus community. Units under the Vice Chancellor’s purview include Rutgers–Camden Learning Resource Center, Office of Disability Services, Leadership Institute, Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) and TRiO Student Support Services. The position also includes coordination and implementation of assessment for Middle States Accreditation; oversight for the EAB Student Success Collaborative Tool; and leadership for the campus General Education program, as well as strategic oversight of Experiential Learning and Summer/Winterim session operations.

Rutgers–Camden seeks an experienced, visionary, and collaborative leader who is prepared to lead student success at the highest institutional level and facilitate change in an open, transparent, and inclusive manner. The ideal candidate will possess sensitivity and commitment to issues of diversity and access; the ability to facilitate trust and collaboration with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders; and the fluency and openness to engage diverse audiences. The Vice Chancellor will also possess experience providing leadership for outreach programs; familiarity with and managerial experience in campus-based opportunity programs; and capacity to provide leadership for comprehensive student academic support programs. A master’s degree is required; a doctorate in a relevant field is preferred. A record of successful teaching is highly desired. Rutgers-Camden welcomes applicants with tenure or tenure-track faculty experience. For an extraordinary candidate, a tenured faculty appointment will be considered.
