Job Description:
This position supervises 35-40 teacher candidates in their practicum and pre-practicum field experience within the Graduate School of Education.  Clinical Supervisor observes each practicum candidate a minimum of three times and meets formally with candidate and their Supervising Practitioner three times prior to the practicum end date.  Clinical Supervisor is a liaison between the University and the K-12 school, assessing candidate readiness to enter the teaching profession and providing guidance to both the candidate and Supervising Practitioner on the Candidate Assessment of Performance process.  Supervision for the pre-practicum field experience assesses candidate readiness for student teaching.

This is a remote position that requires access to a personal vehicle and entails extensive travel across Massachusetts (mileage, tolls and parking are reimbursed).

Essential Functions: 

  • Administer the Candidate Assessment of Performance (CAP) practicum process as outlined by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to assess and document evidence of candidate readiness for the licensure role.
  • Provide candidates with consistent guidance, support, and high-quality feedback during field-based experiences.
  • Participate in field placement orientations, information sessions, weekly seminars and Supervising Practitioner trainings.
  • Work collaboratively with Field Placement team and maintain a professional working relationship with supervising practitioners, teacher candidates, and seminar leaders.
  • Responsible for mediation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving as issues arise among teacher candidates and supervising practitioners.
  • Communicate regularly with Lesley candidates, supervising practitioners, school principals and administrators.
  • Responsible for maintaining and processing candidate practicum documentation, mileage log, and e-Portfolio assessment ratings and evidence.
  • Mentor new Program supervisors, as needed.
  • This position requires extensive travel to remote and metro locations throughout Massachusetts. Must be able to operate and have access to a personal vehicle.
  • Assumes appropriate additional responsibilities, as warranted by departmental or regulatory changes.

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Education.
  • At least 5 years teaching experience, with a background in Special Education.
  • An intermediate proficiency level working within Microsoft Office Word and Excel and a willingness to learn Lesley e-Portfolio technology.
  • Familiarity with the Candidate Assessment of Performance process.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills and experience with conflict resolution.
  • Experience related to higher education and practicum supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and in a flexible and changing environment set and deal with multiple priorities.
  • Ability to expertly manage the logistical demands of supervising 35-40 students in different schools across Massachusetts.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; if you hold a visa, your visa status must allow you to work at Lesley University.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience working in multiple grade levels (i.e. early childhood, elementary, middle and secondary).

Additional Information:
Salary Grade 25: $51,681 – $61,500
