Williams is pleased to announce the opening for the position of Assistant Director of Financial Aid. This is a fulltime, year-round regular appointment reporting to the Director of Financial Aid. The college seeks energetic, service-oriented professionals to serve our diverse student body. Williams undergraduates are drawn from 50 states and many foreign countries; over fifty percent of whom are receiving over 49 million dollars in need-based aid from Williams as well as federal, state and other funding sources.


  • Determine student eligibility for institutional and federal financial aid
  • Counsel students and parents about the aid process and eligibility concerns
  • Perform administrative requirements for various federal, state, and institutional aid programs
  • Assist with development and implementation of informational programs and publications
  • Other duties as assigned

In addition to the primary responsibilities described above, we plan to utilize the strengths and interests of our new colleague in ways that will further the stated mission and needs of our office. Departmental needs include community outreach, event planning, complex data analysis, and web maintenance.


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in financial aid administration is preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to relate and interact with members of a diverse student body, faculty, and staff is required
  • Solid experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required
  • Experience using Oracle PeopleSoft or another relational database is a plus
  • Foreign language skills are highly desirable
  • A background in need analysis utilizing institutional methodology and a knowledge of federal regulations is desirable
  • Must be able to work independently as well as show commitment to a team and enjoy working in a complex, deadline-driven office that demands adaptability
