University of Pennsylvania — Associate Professor (Clinical Educator Track), Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Informatics

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate Professor position in the non-tenure clinician-educator track. The successful applicant will be accomplished in the area of lab medicine and informatics, serving as an Associate Director of Laboratory Medicine as well as the Associate Director within the newly created Division of Pathology Informatics. Responsibilities include result interpretation, sign-out and quality management of the Metabolic Disease Laboratory, expansion of mass spectrometry services and research within the whole department, quality control, innovation and test development, interactions with clinical colleagues, and teaching of genetics and clinical pathology residents, fellows and medical and graduate students. The successful candidate will also provide coverage for sign-out in clinical chemistry. Additional responsibilities will include expansion of clinical informatics across the department, development of high-dimensional machine learning approaches to pathology diagnostics, and mentoring of junior faculty within the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine on clinical tracks to ensure their career progression and eligibility for promotion. We are interested in someone with a strong background in clinical chemistry, with a particular emphasis on clinical mass spectrometry, as well as in bioinformatics. An MD, with American Board of Pathology certification in Clinical Pathology is required and administrative experience at the director level is strongly preferred. Applicants must have an M.D. degree.
