Elgin Community College (ECC) is a comprehensive, fully accredited community college located in Elgin, Illinois, one of its most rapidly growing cities. Our district encompasses 360 square miles, serving 400,000 people, 11,000 businesses with four public school districts and 15 high schools. ECC was selected as one of five Illinois community colleges to participate in the national Achieving the Dream (AtD) initiative. is a long-term national initiative that collaborates with community colleges to help more students earn degrees, complete certificates, or transfer to four-year institutions to continue their studies. The park-like setting of our 145 acre Main Campus offers instruction spanning nine major buildings with beautiful views. ECC also offers classes throughout the northwest suburbs of Chicago with more than 100 off-campus locations.


The primary purpose of this position is to direct and carry out the prescribed ECC Talent Search grant from the Department of Education and to follow the guidelines for the Education Department of General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR) and Budget (OMB).

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as primary liaison with targeted schools.
  2. Coordinate and lead Alliance grant taskforce and advisory team.
  3. Provide guidance and support to college departments.
  4. Maintain student enrollment and performance data.
  5. Manage program budget.
  6. Coordinate information sharing and compliance meetings.
  7. Supervise and mange Talent Search Transitions staff.
  8. Document updates and provide data summaries and audits of Talent Search Transitions Program.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Master’s degree (MA/MS) in education, counseling, organizational management or related field from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  2. Minimum five years’ experience in education, secondary or post-secondary.
  3. Documentable experience working with students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  4. Supervisory experience.
  5. Budgetary management and reporting experience.
  6. Strong written, interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  7. Proficient with Microsoft Office software (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook).
  8. Possess strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Experience with grant management is preferred.
  2. Experience working with diverse and first-generation college student populations preferred.
