Norfolk State University Signs a Partnership Agreement With the Coast Guard

Norfolk State University, the historically Black educational institution in Virginia, has entered into a partnership agreement with the U.S. Coast Guard. The agreement calls for the establishment of the College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative program at Norfolk State.

The program is a scholarship initiative designed to increase diversity in the officer corps of the Coast Guard. Under the agreement university official will promote opportunities in the Coast Guard to its students. The Coast Guard will offer scholarships and other services to Norfolk State students who are interested in careers in the Coast Guard. Current and former Coast Guard officers will come to campus to recruit students for the program.
