Starting Salary Range: $6,333/month to $9,166/month for 11 months.

Starting salary is based on established criteria including the number of years as a licensed mental health professional and the type of experience (e.g. additional credit given for college counseling experience).

The Licensed Psychotherapist reports to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and is assigned duties by the Director as specified herein. The Licensed Psychotherapist will provide high quality clinical services; community psychology/outreach and consultation services; and may provide supervision/training of doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows. In discharging these duties the Licensed Psychotherapist is expected to be keenly sensitive to issues of gender, culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disabilities, socio economic status etc. and to be skilled with techniques for counseling students with diverse backgrounds.

All the Licensed Psychotherapist’s activities are performed within the limits of standards and ethical principles of their professional organization, as well as applicable legal mandates for mental health professionals in the State of California.

This position requires demonstrated expertise and understanding working with African American, Black, and/or Caribbean students in clinical and outreach services.

Qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated clinical experience with individuals and couples using a brief therapy model
  • Demonstrated strong clinical and crisis management skills
  • Experience facilitating psycho therapeutic and psycho-educational groups
  • Experience designing and implementing multiculturally sensitive outreach programs and psycho educational workshops
  • Demonstrated multicultural competence in mental health service provision
