Description of Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with colleagues in Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Student Association and community partners, to develop, coordinate, and promote community service and civic engagement opportunities for the SUNY Oswego campus. The Coordinator will promote, support and coordinate student involvement in community service and civic engagement through ongoing service programs, one-time community service events and civic engagement programming. The Coordinator will continue to build a clearinghouse for community service sites and assure that service activities are coordinated for the College in a cohesive manner that emphasizes the importance of lifelong civic involvement. Will serve as liaison to community partners by focusing on identifying and developing new sustainable community partnerships, assessing community needs, and mobilizing resources from the campus to address the needs of the community. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, student organizations and campus departments to respond to build partnerships on campus and with the external community.
In addition, will be expected to display a commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.
- Master’s degree
- Experience in event planning or program development
- Demonstrated record of collaboration within local communities
- Ability to set priorities, manage work and meet deadlines independently
- Must demonstrate a willingness to work and communicate effectively with diverse populations and as a team member
- Must be available to work occasional nights and weekend
- Master’s degree in higher education or related field
- Experience in training, supervising and mentoring student staff
- Experience gathering evidence of program effectiveness and using data for continuous improvement
- Strong administrative, organization and budgeting skills
