New Administrative Posts for Four African Americans in Higher Education

Angela Blanton was named vice president for finance and chief financial officer at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. She joined the staff at the university in 2015 as director of operations in the university’s finance division. Before joining the staff at the university, Blanton was the chief financial officer for the brokerage investment division of PNC Financial Services.

Blanton holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan. She holds an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.

Vincent T. Harris is the new director of the Male Success Initiative at California State University, Fullerton. He recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in higher education at Harvard University.

Dr. Harris is a graduate of Auburn University in Alabama. He earned a master’s degree at Ohio University and a Ph.D. in educational leadership and research at Louisiana State University.

Sonja Feist-Price was named the sole preferred candidate to become the vice president for institutional diversity at the University of Kentucky. She currently serves as a professor in the College of Education and as senior assistant provost for faculty.

Dr. Feist-Price is a graduate of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She holds a master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling psychology from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a doctor of rehabilitation degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Kentucky.

Melvin Hamlett was appointed vice president for finance and administration at Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas. He was vice president for business and finance at Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee.

Hamlett is a graduate of Lane College, where he majored in education. He holds an MBA from the University of Memphis.
