Two African Americans Appointed to Administrative Posts at North Carolina Universities

John Michael Lee Jr. was named vice chancellor for university advancement at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. He was special assistant to the president at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. He also served as assistant vice president for alumni affairs and university advancement at Florida A&M.

Dr. Lee is a graduate of Florida A&M University, where he majored in computer engineering. He earned a master of public administration degree at Georgia State University and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from New York University.

Sonye Randolph was named equal opportunity and Title IX investigator in the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Compliance at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. She previously worked for the Guilford County School System in North Carolina.

Randolph is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She holds a master’s degree in public affairs from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a law degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham.
