As a key member of the executive management team, the Associate Provost for Academic Administration and Faculty Development oversees one or more College functions to fulfill comprehensive program goals and contributes to overall College strategic objectives. He/she plans and implements a range of successful programs and oversees staff, budget, operations and facilities.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Provost and working collaboratively with the Associate Provost for Teaching and learning, the Associate Provost for Academic Administration and Faculty Development will manage one or more College administrative functions. S/he develops, implements, and assesses programs and meets strategic goals. S/he also coordinates activities among different units and with areas outside the College. The Associate Provost is responsible for staff supervision, budget, operations and facilities within the areas of Academic Administration, Research and Compliance.
The Associate Provost for Academic Administration and Faculty Development leads and manages the following areas of activity:
- Academic Personnel Appointments and Processing
- Workload Reporting and Compliance
- Immigration Resources for Faculty
- Faculty Development Initiatives
- Research Administration and Support
- Faculty Information Center: Conflicts of Interest, Recognition and Awards, Human Subjects protocols.
- Maintains the Department Chairs’ Handbook and Faculty Handbook.

This position is in CUNY’s Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and eight years’ related experience.
The successful candidate should possess a Master’s degree or Doctorate (preferred) from an accredited college/university and must have a significant record of teaching, scholarship and service commensurate with a possible appointment as a tenured faculty member in one of the academic departments.
The Associate Provost should have administrative leadership experience in an academic organization at the level of department chair, associate dean, program director or the equivalent. Successful candidates must understand the mission of our urban public university in creating opportunities for students through effective teaching, high quality research with impact, and shared governance.
