Elizabeth City State University Partners With Pitt Community College

Elizabeth City State University, the historically Black educational institution in North Carolina, has entered into a partnership agreement with Pitt Community College in Winterville, North Carolina. The two-year public college, located about 100 miles southwest of Elizabeth City, enrolls about 8,500 students. African Americans are 37 percent of the student body.

Under the agreement student who graduate with an associate’s degree in criminal justice technology from Pitt Community College will be able to transfer seamlessly to the bachelor’s degree program in criminal justice technology at Elizabeth City State University.

Sherri Joyner, a criminal justice instructor at Pitt Community College stated that “students who complete bachelor’s degrees at Elizabeth City State University through the partnership now in place will increase their opportunities for employment at higher levels within the criminal justice field.
