Colorado College Scholar Wins Major Playwriting Award

Idris Goodwin, an assistant professor of theatre at Colorado College, has won the 2017 Blue Ink Playwriting Award from the American Blues Theater in Chicago. The award was created in 2010 to help the careers of budding playwrights. A developmental workshop or a staged reading of the winning play is held at the American Blues Theater and the playwright receives a cash prize.

Goodwin was honored for his play “Hype Man.” The winning play was selected from more than 500 entries.

Goodwin joined the faculty at Colorado College in 2012. He is a graduate of Columbia College in Chicago, where he majored in film, video, and screenwriting. He holds a master of fine arts degree in creative writing from the Art Institute of Chicago and his continuing graduate work at the Iowa Playwrights Workshop at the University of Iowa.
