The University of Nevada, Reno invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position with the Department of Physics. The selected candidate may be hired at either the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The level is to be determined by the department and will be comparable to their experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Physics or related field by the time of appointment and post-doctoral research experience. The duties of this position will include teaching physics at the graduate and undergraduate levels and establishing a vigorous research program in the area of theory, modeling and numerical simulation of high-energy density plasma physics. Synergy with research activities at the Nevada Terawatt Facility would be advantageous. Start-up funds will be provided.
Located in the Truckee Meadows at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the University of Nevada, Reno, is 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe which offers skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, and kayaking opportunities surrounding its beautiful crystal clear waters. Ph.D. in Physics or closely related field by the time of appointment, Postdoctoral research experience, evidence of ability and strong commitment to establish a vigorous research program in the area of theory, modeling and numerical simulation of high-energy density plasma physics, evidence of ability and motivation to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels in physics.
