The New Chief Diversity Officer at Empire State College in New York

dawesElliott Dawes has been named the inaugural chief diversity officer for institutional equity and inclusion at Empire State College in Saratoga Springs, New York, a campus of the State University of New York System. He will be based in the college’s New York City offices.

From 2006 to 2014, Dawes was the director of the Black Male Initiative for the 18-campus City University of New York System. Earlier in his career, Dawes served as assistant dean for multicultural affairs at the Hofstra University School of Law in Hempstead, New York.

Dawes recently completed a master of law degree program at Columbia University. Earlier, he earned a bachelor’s degree in government and Africana studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and a juris doctorate at the New York University School of Law.
