Southern University Strengthens Ties With Louisiana Community and Technical College

SouthernULogoThe Southern University System has entered into a new partnership agreement with the Louisiana Community and Technical College System. Under the new agreement, students enrolled in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and who earn an associate’s degree at any of the campuses of the Louisiana Technical and Community College System will be guaranteed admission to either Southern University’s main campus in Baton Rouge or Southern University in New Orleans.

In addition to guaranteed admissions, these students will be eligible for a $1,500 Pathways Scholarship.

ray_l_belton_webRay Belton, president of the Southern University System stated that “we are indeed excited to partner with LCTCS to establish this meaningful agreement. Southern University wholeheartedly welcomes these high-achieving transfer students.”

Monty Sullivan, president of the Louisiana Technical and Community College System, added that he believes the partnership “is one of the most important transfer agreements in our state’s history. This Pathway Scholarship ensures that our best and brightest will have a seamless onramp to Southern University. Regardless of where you attend college in our system, you can achieve the dream of attending Southern University.”

Last year, 747 students from Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges transferred to the two Southern University four-year campuses.
