New Administrative Posts in Higher Education for Three African Americans

latimore-350Darin A. Latimore was appointed deputy dean for diversity and inclusion at the Yale School of Medicine. When he takes office in January, he will be the medical school’s first chief diversity officer. He has been serving as associate dean for student and resident diversity at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento.

Dr. Latimore is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his medical degree at the University of California, Davis.

cunningham-1919Joi Cunningham was promoted to assistant vice president for human resources at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. She joined the staff at the university in 2003 and is the former director of the Office of Inclusion and Intercultural Initiatives.

Cunningham is a graduate of Wellesley College in Massachusetts, where she majored in political science. She holds a juris doctorate from the Boston College Law School.

claytonTaffye Benson Clayton is the inaugural vice president for inclusion and diversity at Auburn University in Alabama. She will also serve as associate provost. Dr. Clayton was associate vice chancellor and chief diversity officer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Clayton is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she majored in speech communication. She holds a master’s degree in arts administration from American University in Washington, D.C., and an educational doctorate from East Carolina University.
