Racial Slur Written on a Sidewalk at the University of Saint Thomas in Minnesota

ust1The word “Nigger” was scrawled on a sidewalk on the campus of the University of Saint Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

President Julie Sullivan and provost Richard Plum issued a statement saying that “this is not who we are and cannot be tolerated. We are actively investigating this incident and will take firm action based on our findings.”

The University of Saint Thomas enrolls about 6,100 undergraduate students and 4,000 graduate students. African Americans make up just 2 percent of the undergraduate student body, according to the latest data issued by the U.S. Department of Education.
