Westfield State University, located in the scenic Pioneer Valley region of western Massachusetts, invites inquiries, nominations and applications for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Part of the Massachusetts Public Higher Education system, Westfield State University is a comprehensive public university that offers quality undergraduate and master’s degrees programs in the liberal arts and sciences with complementing professional studies curricula.

As the chief academic officer of the University, the Provost reports to President Ramon S. Torrecilha, Ph.D., who was appointed in 2015. As a member of President Torrecilha’s Cabinet, the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs will contribute to shaping the agenda of an institution with a distinguished history, a stable foundation, and an auspicious future. The Provost will provide vision, strategy, advocacy, management and planning for the division responsible for the core academic mission at Westfield. The Provost/VPAA has responsibility for the offices of the Dean of Faculty, the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, the Associate Dean for Institutional Research and Assessment, the Dean of Academic Information Services and the Library, the Dean of Education, and the Dean of Graduate and Continuing Education. The 26 academic departments also report to the Provost.

The new Provost is expected to assume office on or about July 1, 2017.
