University Students Find a Racist Message on Their Apartment Door

lsulogoA racist message was written on a door ornament of an apartment occupied by Black students enrolled at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. The student had placed a Halloween ornament on her door at University House, an off-campus apartment complex where many university students reside. Someone wrote “Go back 2 Africa Nigger monkeys” on the ornament.

One of the African American students who live in the apartment is a columnist for the student newspaper at Louisiana State. She had written several comments critical of race relations on campus.

F. King Alexander, president of Louisiana State University, met with the student and offered to help her and her roommates find alternative housing if they were uncomfortable at the present site due to the racist vandalism.

    • To imply the victim made up the story clearly indicates you do not see the severity of the problem. All students should have the right to attend the college of their choice and not be victimized by insecure and ignorant people. A journalist should not have to shy away from writing truth. I hope they find the thug who did it and punish that person to the highest extent of the law.
