Health Promotion and Policy is made up of two programs: Health Policy and Management and Community Health Education. The department is in the School of Public Health and Health Sciences (SPHHS), which also has departments of Environmental Health, Biostatistics/Epidemiology, Nutrition, Kinesiology and Communication Disorders. The School offers BA, BS, MPH, MS, AuD and PhD degrees.
Job Description: The University of Massachusetts Amherst, School of Public Health and Health Sciences, Department of Health Promotion and Policy is accepting applications for two (2) full-time, tenure-track faculty positions in Health Policy and Management at the Assistant Professor level.
We are seeking to fill two positions with candidates who have interest and experience in developing an extramurally funded program of research and teaching in health policy and management. Duties include maintaining an active program of research, teaching, and service as well as mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. Candidates must possess strong research skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with research and/or teaching interests in one or more of the following areas: (1) health care management and administration, especially organizational behavior and/or financial management; (2) health services research; and (3) public health policy research, including health policy/program evaluation and cost-benefit analysis. Preference will be given to candidates with interest in collaborative, large-scale research programs.
Candidates for the position must meet the following requirements:
- Completed doctoral degree in Health Policy and Management, Health Administration or comparable public health degree (e.g., Health Services Research) from an from accredited Schools of Public Health is required.
Experience and qualifications appropriate to an appointment at the Assistant Professor level
- Evidence of ability to secure extramural funding for research and to conduct both independent and collaborative research
- Strong record of (or demonstration of potential for) published peer-reviewed articles
- Demonstrated interest and ability in developing courses and teaching at graduate and undergraduate level and in advising/mentoring students
