The College of Education at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank (#115270, 116270). Start date for both positions is August 1, 2017. Responsibilities include teaching courses in the College of Education, with the intention of developing into a faculty member who may meet instructional or program needs in the Ed.D. Program, as well as other courses as needed, and serving on doctoral, departmental, college and university committees. The Ed.D. Program provides courses in a cohort format that meet outside of normal business hours (some midweek and Friday evenings & weekends). Some cohorts meet off campus and may require travel. (All program related travel reimbursable per MTSU Travel Policies.) Additionally, the candidate selected for this position will be expected to engage in research and public service initiatives. Specifically, this position requires assisting area school districts in school improvement efforts. Faculty members are expected to actively participate in university, college and departmental activities.
Earned terminal degree in a field of study related to PreK-12 public education assessment, learning and/or school improvement.
Required Related Experience
Must possess a research agenda and/or a record of scholarly research focused upon assessment, learning, or school improvement applications in PreK-12 schools or school systems. This scholarly research and/or research agenda must meet Middle Tennessee State University Graduate Council standards for teaching graduate level courses.
Must also provide evidence of at least 5 years successful experience teaching and leading within PreK-12 public school settings.
Candidates who have a record of teaching graduate level courses and/or practical experience in areas such as assessment, applied quantitative research methods for school improvement, applied qualitative research methods for school improvement, cognitive learning theory, instructional design and improvement, collaborative teaming, highly effective schools, effective teaching research, or school improvement will be given special consideration.
Additionally, candidates who meet the Middle Tennessee State University Graduate Council standards for Regular Graduate Faculty status, and who may become eligible for chairing doctoral dissertations in the future will receive the same special consideration as will candidates who provide evidence successfully assisting school districts of and schools in improving student learning. Candidates with 8 or more years evidence of successful experience teaching and leading within PreK-12 public school settings will receive special consideration.
