Lock Haven University — Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Education

Lock Haven University (LHU), a member of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education, seeks an experienced and innovative professional to become the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Education. The University desires to have the incumbent in office by July 1, 2017.

Located along the Susquehanna River in the scenic town of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, Lock Haven University provides its students with a high-quality university education with all the advantages of a mid-sized college setting. The University is home to about 4,000 undergraduates and approximately 380 graduate students and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

The College of Liberal Arts and Education offers degrees in arts, humanities, social sciences, and education leading to the Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Education, and Master of Education. It leverages the expertise of faculty in the liberal arts, who, together with faculty in the College of Natural, Behavioral, and Health Sciences and faculty in education advance high-quality education in PK-12 and in higher education and, further, prepare the next generation of teachers, leaders in a wide variety of professions, and engaged citizens. The College supports the University mission to promote participation in artistic and cultural production by all students; the Visual and Performing Arts Department presents a large number of innovative performances and exhibits each year that serve not only the University but the surrounding counties. The College delivers much of the general education curriculum and is deeply committed to the importance of the liberal arts for students across the University.

Reporting directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President, Dr. Donna Wilson, the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Education will provide leadership and oversight for the strategic, academic, intellectual, and administrative affairs of the College, including faculty development, research, external relations, and all measures of student success. The Dean will be charged with promoting and implementing a shared vision for the College that will support the University’s commitment to teaching excellence and advance its mission to provide rigorous general education, high quality undergraduate programs and graduate programs in the liberal arts and education, professional/pre-professional preparation, and integrative real-world experiences, both local and global, for the students.
