In Memoriam: Daniel O. Bernstine, 1947-2016

dan-bernstine-2010Daniel O. Bernstine, president of the Law School Admissions Council in Newtown, Pennsylvania, died at his home earlier this month. He was 69 years old.

The Law School Admission Council is a major gatekeeper for students seeking to attend law school as it administers the Law School Admission Test.

Before taking over the leadership of the Law School Admission Council, Dr. Bernstine was president of Portland State University in Oregon for 10 years. Prior to that role, he was dean of the University of Wisconsin Law School. Earlier in his career, Dr. Bernstine was a professor of law and general counsel at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Bernstine earned law degrees at Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin.
