Drake University — Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences

The Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. This is a full-time, 12 month, tenure or non-tenure track Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor position to start January 2017; application review begins 11/14/16 and continues until the position is filled.

This position reports directly to the Dean of the Drake University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and is responsible for student admissions, academic advising, student affairs, student leadership and professional development, and policy and procedure relating to student records, services, academic performance, and professional behavior. This position will serve on the College Administrative Committee (CAC), provide advice and counsel to the Dean and the CAC members regarding overall student morale and needs. This position is also expected to participate in academic and scholarly activities. Other responsibilities include representing the school at state and national meetings that promote excellence in admissions and student affairs.

The candidate should possess an in-depth understanding of healthcare professions, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to independently manage an Office of Student Affairs, including maintaining confidentiality with student personal matters and mentoring direct reports. A terminal professional degree (PhD, EdD, PharmD, OTD, or other) is required and prior experience with student affairs in a school/college of pharmacy or other health related academic setting and 3 or more years of academic experience is preferred. The position of Assistant Dean requires a collegial management style, reliable organization abilities, ability to prioritize multiple charges, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to serve as a student advocate to faculty and administration. The position requires skill at effective community relationships, use of innovative electronic technology (data management, communication technology, web-site and social media). Must possess excellent communication skills for interaction with students, faculty, and staff face-to-face, via telephone and other electronic mediums.
