Bernadette Gray-Little to Step Down as Chancellor of the University of Kansas

gray-littleBernadette Gray-Little, the 17th chancellor of the University of Kansas, announced that she will step down at the end of the current academic year. She was named chancellor of the University of Kansas in 2009. Dr. Gray-Little is the only woman and the only African American to serve as chancellor of the University of Kansas.

In a statement to the university community, Chancellor Gray-Little said “KU has always been a special place with terrific people and an instinctive spirit to change our world for the better. During the past seven years, we have made tremendous strides as a university and positioned KU for even greater achievements in the future. Leading this remarkable institution is a privilege I always will cherish, and I’m grateful to the entire KU community for believing in our mission.”

Dr. Gary-Little joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina in 1971 and rose to the positions of dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, executive vice chancellor, and provost.
