The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Biochemistry and Biophysics, including but not limited to those with a focus on areas of mechanistic biochemistry such as RNA/DNA regulation, computational, structural, systems or chemical biology, or other topics that complement the current strengths of the Department. Responsibilities include establishing a vigorous and independently funded research program while contributing to graduate and medical school education of the University. Applicants must have an M.D and/or Ph.D or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research and education.
The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics is a collaborative environment of over 20 primary faculty, including members of the National Academy, Royal Society, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute, who bring together a wide range of expertise with a common goal of understanding molecular mechanisms of key biological and pathological processes and their physical and chemical underpinnings. We seek individuals who have demonstrated a strong record of independent accomplishments and will interact productively with colleagues within the Department and across the Penn Medicine and University of Pennsylvania campus.
