University of Massachusetts, Amherst — Sr. Associate Director of Transfer Admissions

UMass Amherst, the flagship campus of the University of Massachusetts system, is seeking dynamic professionals to join its undergraduate admissions team. The university, which recruits prospective high school students both nationally and internationally, receives approximately 5,000 applications for transfer admission each year.

The Sr. Associate Director of Transfer Admissions is an integral member of the department’s professional staff, which is charged with recruiting, selecting, and yielding the undergraduate transfer class. The Sr. Associate Director, under the general direction of the Director, develops, implements and oversees the policies, procedures and special initiatives relevant to the recruitment and enrollment of a qualified and diverse transfer student applicant pool.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Our ideal candidate will demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the undergraduate experience at a major research university. A bachelor’s degree in a related field such as education and 5 years of progressively responsible experience in transfer admissions as a counselor/recruiter or Academic Advisor. Ability to work effectively with faculty and academic officers, an understanding of the unique and diverse needs of community college students and their families, sensitivity to multicultural and socioeconomic issues, strong organization, planning and supervisory skills, excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrated computer literacy. Must be available and willing to work a varied schedule, including evening/weekend work and ability to travel throughout the academic year. Must have a valid driver’s license (with proof of insurability).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in education or related academic discipline, nd progressively responsible experience in transfer admissions as a counselor/recruiter or Academic Advisor. Knowledge of Imaging, Word, Excel, Email and PowerPoint, previous experience with student records systems, preferably PeopleSoft.

Hiring Salary Range: $51,000-$64, 000 Normal Starting Salary Range: $51,000 – $57,500
