The Department of Clothing, Textiles, and Interior Design at the University of Alabama is seeking (2) Assistant/Associate Professors for a 9-month, tenure track with a start date of August 16, 2017.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must have an MFA or PhD in interior design or closely related field. Must demonstrate the potential to teach interior design in one or more of the following areas: residential and commercial interior design studio, building codes and regulatory compliance, materials and methods of building construction, interior materials and sources, business practices, sustainable design, digital rendering, presentation techniques, and 3D communication techniques. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and InDesign/Adobe Creative Suite desired. Applicants must also demonstrate a record of or potential for research and publications in scholarly journals in the discipline. Previous teaching experience, professional design experience, and current publication record are preferred. Active participant in relevant academic or professional organizations such as IIDA, IDEC, and ASID is also desired.
Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate/graduate courses in a CIDA-accredited design program, develop a focused area of scholarship, advise students, provide service to the University and profession.
