Pomona College — Assistant Director, Educational Outreach

Pomona College’s Draper Center for Community Partnerships seeks a dynamic and innovative Assistant Director to provide oversight of the office’s educational partnership initiatives including the College’s flagship pre-college program: Pomona College Academy for Youth Success (PAYS), an endowed college access program for local high school students. The Assistant Director is also responsible for three partnerships with local schools: LINC, a literacy partnership with local elementary schools; Next Level, a pre-college mentoring program with a local high school, and Leadership in Gender and Sexuality (LEGS), a partnership with LGBTQ youth at local high schools. Additionally, the Assistant Director works closely with Draper Center student coordinators to plan campus visits for up to 1500 youth throughout each year. This position reports to the Associate Dean of Students/Director of the Draper Center.

Essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to planning and assisting in most aspects of the center’s programs including academic activities, co-curricular activities; partnering with faculty, staff, administrators, and students to select program participants; assisting in developing and implementing comprehensive student development and leadership training; intentionally building inclusive communities in the Draper Center and among its programs and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Master’s degree is preferred
  • Must have at least three (3) years of experience working with in K-12 classrooms or with K-12 students in academic extracurricular activities and/or three (3) years of experience working in a college/university environment
  • Six (6) years of experience is preferred
  • Experience developing and leading human relations and/or diversity trainings preferred
  • Bilingual English-Spanish preferred

Required Hours: The regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Weekend and evening work hours are required. Travel may be required. Lives in residence during staff training and the summer program (5 weeks per year). Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.
