Oakland University — Assistant Professor, International Relations / International Political Economy

The Department of Political Science invites applications for a tenure track position in International Relations with primary specialization in International/Global Political Economy, at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin August 15, 2017. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach an introductory course in international politics and upper-division courses in international/global political economy. Candidates will also have an opportunity to teach related thematic courses such as Globalization and IR Theory, and to develop additional courses in their area of expertise. Secondary specialization is open though the ability to teach quantitative methods and/or Asian politics is desirable.

Candidates with their Ph.D. in hand are preferred, but candidates who are ABD will also be considered, provided that they can demonstrate they are near completion of the dissertation. Candidates with prior college or university teaching experience, and those who have demonstrated scholarly productivity are especially encouraged to apply but those able to demonstrate strong potential for success in teaching and research will also be considered. Teaching load is competitive.

The Department, housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, offers an undergraduate degree program in Political Science (B.A.), International Relations (B.A.), in Public Administration and Public Policy (B.S.), and an accredited graduate degree in Public Administration (M.P.A.) with concentrations in Health Care, Local Government, Criminal Justice, Court Administration, and Nonprofit Management.
