The Office of Enrollment Management at Indiana University Bloomington is looking for a qualified Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing.

The Office of Enrollment Management is committed to providing outstanding student services through ten organizational departments and divisions. By utilizing a series of highly integrated information systems and a robust reporting environment, OEM provides ongoing analysis of the characteristics and behaviors of current, prospective, and former students in order to help the campus achieve its goals.

In collaboration with the Vice Provost and the Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) leadership team, develops and implements communications and marketing strategies for the OEM, and as such, oversees communications and marketing activities both internal and external to the Responsibility Center (RC). Modes include digital marketing, web development, social media, media relations, internal communications, community relations, and print publications. Coordinates activities, communications, and strategic marketing plans among the departments within OEM to ensure OEM’s visual identity, branding of core messages, and formal communication programs are consistent and unified across OEM. Facilitates relationships with the IU Office of University Strategic Communications, IU Marketing, and the Provost Office communications team and with the College and the schools’ directors of Marketing and Communications. Directs the coordination within OEM of print and electronic media, OEM’s annual report, and internal communications within OEM and IU Bloomington. Directs activities related to conceptualizing and implementing a strategic marketing plan and achieving marketing targets for OEM recruitment and enrollment strategies. Engages in and influences marketing programs, policy development and compliance with IU Marketing. Conducts and analyzes market research for OEM strategic initiatives. Executes and ensures marketing communications are coordinated and supports marketing plan objectives to meet organizational demands. Leads selection and implementation of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and marketing technology systems and software. Manages and directs workflow; recruits, hires, trains, and supervises staff.

Bachelor’s degree is required, master’s degree preferred. A minimum of five years of experience in marketing and/or communications required, preferably in higher education. Five years of experience managing and supervising staff. Preferred: eight years of demonstrated proficiency in marketing and/or communications with increasing levels of responsibility; experience in higher education; and ten years of experience in successfully managing and supervising staff.

Qualified applicants will have strong leadership, organizational and multi-tasking skills in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience writing press releases, strategic plans, and annual report content. Demonstrated success in developing and executing communications/marketing strategies/market research. Experience in developing marketing communications materials. Ability to design and oversee marketing research studies. Proven work experience with social media and other interactive communications technology. Solid data analysis skills and the ability to synthesize and draw actionable conclusions from data. Must be competent in basic office and presentation equipment operation and proficient in current office software programs and applications such as Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, etc.)
