Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs (SVPSA), the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Success (AVPEMSS) assists in overseeing the operation of the Division of Student Affairs, and provides leadership for the development of plans and procedures for accomplishing the Division’s goals. The AVPEMSS provides critical leadership to the University’s effort to recruit and retain an academically strong and diverse student body in alignment with the University’s goals for enrollment. The successful candidate will foster partnerships across the University to position the institution for future enrollment success and envision and advise on enrollment goals; will collaborate with the Enrollment Research Team, leaders of the key enrollment departments, and with the leadership in Academic Affairs; and will oversee the process for developing enrollment projections and provide enrollment projections to support institutional budget and planning. The AVPEMSS will provide leadership to the Admissions, Student Financial Aid, University Registrar, Enrollment Research Team, Learning Communities, Student Support Services Programs, and Educational Talent Search/Upward Bound areas.

Using partnerships with academic colleagues, the AVPEMSS will create a culture of collaboration to set up every student for academic success and achievement. The successful candidate will possess the following:  the ability to understand and analyze complex situations and effectively develop and communicate action plans and the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities and coordinate complex administrative operations.  Familiarity with current trends in higher education, including best practices as well as strong writing skills in preparing and interpreting policy statements will be expected of the successful candidate. The AVPEMSS will oversee a staff of more than 135 professional and merit staff and have budgetary responsibility for $15.5 million.

The successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree and ten years of related experience, or a master’s degree and eight years of related experience, or a Ph.D. or other professional degree and five years of related experience. Education must be in higher education or a closely related field and experience must be at a comparable level and include higher education with progressive leadership responsibilities in enrollment services and/or student programs. Experience which demonstrates knowledge of student recruitment, enrollment records, and financial aid strategies; knowledge of strategic planning and implementation of operational metrics; commitment to student success; and significant experience supervising professional staff is preferred.
