The Department of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education invites applications and nominations for the position of Instructor of Early Childhood Education.

Position Description. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Teaching and Learning, the Instructor of Early Childhood Education position requires teaching and service responsibilities, with the primary focus of the position being on-site and on-line supervision of early childhood teacher candidates. The Instructor of Early Childhood Education may also teach undergraduate courses in the B.S. Ed. in Early Childhood Education program, with the anticipated focus of that teaching being the introductory Pre-Professional Block of courses. Additional expectations include working in partnerships with area schools; modeling effective teaching practices; using instructional technology; performing service within the department, college, university, and community; and maintaining active involvement in professional organizations. The position is a 9-month, non-tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field by August 1, 2017
  • Minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in grades P-5
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with supervision of student teachers and/or practicum students, school-university partnerships, and knowledge of and experience with edTPA
  • Experience working with a diverse faculty and student body
  • A commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in using technology in instruction, including experience teaching online courses
  • Involvement in professional educational organizations at the local, state, or national level
