The Drake University English Department seeks an outstanding teacher and writer for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position, starting August 2017, to teach courses in narrative (creative nonfiction and fiction), with ability to offer courses in some of the following areas: community writing, advocacy writing, and Women’s and Gender Studies. The Department is interested in candidates whose background and experiences are traditionally underrepresented in higher education, and who can teach courses that include a diversity of cultural and ethnic perspectives. Drake seeks candidates with a proven record of success in integrating classroom learning with learning outside the classroom. Course load: 3-3, including a First Year Seminar and a gateway course (“Introduction to Literary Study” or “Writing Seminar”) each academic year. Salary is competitive with peer schools and dependent on qualifications and experience.
