Bridgewater State University — Assistant Professor, School of Social Work

The School of Social Work at Bridgewater State University has experienced dynamic growth and invites applications for one full-time, tenure-track teaching position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning September 2017 in our CSWE-accredited BSW and MSW programs.

The SSW is committed to supporting diversity and inclusion among its faculty, staff and students and to promoting social justice. This emphasis is reflected throughout the University’s curricular and co-curricular activities.

This position requires teaching 12 credits per semester, primarily in the BSW program, with an expectation that the successful candidate will also teach in the MSW program. Primary teaching responsibilities may include Human Behavior in the Social Environment, Practice with Individuals and Families, Introduction to Social Welfare, Dynamics of Diversity and Oppression, Human Behavior and the Social Environment, practice courses, field education or other courses, such as those in your area of specialization.

A commitment to working with non-traditional students will require evening and some weekend teaching. Additional responsibilities include engaging in scholarly activity, student advising, curriculum/program development and assessment, and providing service to the department and university.

Earned doctorate in social work or a closely related field by September 1, 2017

Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited school of social work

At least two years of post-MSW practice experience

A demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, social justice, and community engagement

Ability and willingness to travel to local agencies to supervise student field placements

Record of scholarly productivity or professional impact in a clearly defined area of professional practice.

Research, practice or teaching in one or more of the following areas: Child welfare, substance abuse and addiction studies, trauma, or inter-professional education.

Applicants should also have an ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, the ability to work collaboratively, evidence of scholarly activity, and a commitment to public higher education.
