Bridgewater State University’s Department of Criminal Justice invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position to begin Fall 2017. A large, growing, dynamic department with a strong social justice orientation in both theory and practice seeks faculty committed to teaching, mentoring, and research. The department is multidisciplinary with a commitment to teaching, mentoring and research.
Bridgewater State University has a 4-4 teaching responsibility (most often implemented with a three-course preparation) supported with significant professional development opportunities and guidance. The successful candidate will be required to conduct various service, research and teaching initiatives.
This position focuses on expertise on Children of the Criminal Justice System. Broadly defined, this position seeks an exceptional candidate in any of the following specialization areas (e.g., Children of Incarcerated Parents, Children Who Witness Violence, School-to-Prison Pipeline, Disproportionate Minority Confinement, Juveniles in Adult Prisons, The Effect of Zero-Tolerance Policies, Prosecution of Juveniles in Adult Court, Girls & the Juvenile Justice System, Children of Deported & Illegal Immigrant Parents, Youth & Gang Violence, Child Abuse, etc.).
Prefer a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, but will consider candidates with a Ph.D. in Criminology, Sociology, Public Policy, Political Science, Social Work, Public Health, Psychology or other closely related fields.
A law degree, alone, does not meet the requirement for the appropriate terminal degree for this position.
Doctoral students who are ABD and who are nearing completion of the dissertation will also be considered.
