Appointments of African Americans to Administrative Posts in Higher Education

james_pageJames E. Page Jr., the vice president and chief diversity officer at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, will also serve as the interim vice provost and chief diversity officer for the university as a whole. Page joined the staff at Johns Hopkins University in 2014.

Previously, Page was the chief diversity officer for the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Page holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.

Forbes_RaShedaRa’Sheda Forbes was appointed interim assistant vice president of multicultural affairs at Mississippi State University in Starkville. For the past two years, she has been associate director of the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center on campus.

Forbes has been on the staff at the university since 2008. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biological science and a master’s degree in public policy and administration from Mississippi State University.

renee-allenRenee Allen was appointed the inaugural director of the Academic Success Program at the University of Tennessee College of Law. She has been serving as an instructor in the College of Law of Florida A&M University in Orlando.

Allen is a graduate of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, where she majored in English literature. She earned her law degree at the University of Florida.

Edgar L. BerryEdgar R. Berry is the new interim vice president for student affairs at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. He was serving in private practice as a marriage and family psychotherapist. Dr. Berry is the former vice president for student affairs at Texas College in Tyler, Texas.

Dr. Berry is a graduate of Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he majored in sociology and social welfare. He holds a master degree in secondary school guidance counseling form Clark Atlanta University and an educational doctorate in counselor education from Texas Southern University in Houston.

Pelema I. Morrice was named vice provost for enrollment management at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He was the chief enrollment officer at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. Earlier, he served as associate vice chancellor for academic and student affairs at the University of Nebraska, Omaha.

Dr. Morrice holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from San Jose State University. He earned a doctoral degree in higher education from the University of Michigan. Dr. Morrice is the author of the forthcoming book The Unchosen: Poverty, Opportunity and the American Community College.

Kendra Sharp was named director of donor relations at Wilberforce University in Ohio. She was the assistant director for professional development at Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Sharp is a graduate of Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she majored in criminal justice. She holds a master’s degree in higher education from Walden University.

S-Gordon-Moore-JrS. Gordon Moore Jr. is the executive director of the new Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

Dr. Moore is the former national chairperson of the National Society of Black Engineers.

Justin Gibson was appointed associate director of diversity outreach and engagement for the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association. He is a former academic adviser for the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services at the university.

Gibson is a 2005 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.
