The Department of Atmospheric and Geological Sciences at the State University of New York at Oswego announces the opening of a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professorship in the area of soft-rock geology (rank dependent on experience).

Description of Responsibilities:  Will teach sedimentation & and stratigraphy, historical geology, introductory oceanography, and an elective course in geology that complements existing offerings.  Additionally, the position requires the integration of undergraduate geology majors into an active research program and advising senior theses.

In addition, this position will be expected to display a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship, commitment to undergraduate and/or graduate education, and possess communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with an increasingly diverse array of students and colleagues.

Required Qualifications:  Ph.D. in geology with broad geologic expertise and broad experience in stratigraphy and sedimentary geology, or ABD with degree completion by December 2017, and the ability to teach diverse undergraduate students who are interested in geology, geochemistry, environmental geology and earth science education.

Other Preferred Qualifications:  Prior university-level teaching experience, active research in soft-rock geology, and interest in teaching an elective course in invertebrate paleontology.
