DePauw University — Choral Director
Filed in Faculty on August 2, 2016
DePauw University, a nationally ranked liberal arts college with one of the first Schools of Music in the country, invites applications for a tenure-track position as Choral Director beginning August 2017. Responsibilities include building and maintaining a strong choral program (e.g., recruiting) as well as directing University Chorus and Chamber Singers (both include music majors and liberal arts students). Teaching may include choral conducting, choral literature, diction, vocal chamber music or other courses, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and the needs of the School of Music.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. A completed doctorate in choral conducting, teaching experience at the university level, and evidence of scholarly/artistic activity are required. A commitment to undergraduate teaching in a forward-thinking and innovative context is essential. Experience directing undergraduate-level choirs preferred.
The DePauw University School of Music recently launched the 21st-Century Musician (21CM) Initiative, a complete reimagining of the modern day music school. With a focus on creating musicians of the future instead of the past, this is an exciting time in the 131-year history of the school.
Located in Greencastle, Indiana, about a 45-minute drive west of Indianapolis, DePauw is also home to a 520-acre nature park – which includes at least 9 miles of trails – and Historic East College, built in 1877, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. DePauw is committed to diversity in its student body, faculty, staff, and curriculum.
Review of applications will begin September 15, 2016, and continue until the position is filled. Applications received by this date will be assured of full consideration. Send inquiries to: Dr. Caroline Jetton, Associate Dean of the School of Music.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate, in application materials, a commitment to fostering an engagement with a diversity of ideas and experiences, which promote an inclusive environment in the classroom and at the University.
