As Chapman University enhances its position as one of the leading private universities in the western United States, it seeks a Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs to partner with the President in propelling the institution to greater heights. Located in the heart of Orange County, a vibrant hub of technology, business, and the arts, Chapman University was founded in 1861 as a small liberal arts college affiliated with the Christian Church. Today, Chapman embraces all faiths and is the largest private university in Orange County. Chapman is a comprehensive institution with a mission “to provide personalized education of distinction that leads to inquiring, ethical and productive lives as global citizens.” Chapman is committed to research, scholarship and teaching and to a well-rounded student experience.

There are 8,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students and 920 faculty (500 full-time) in the University’s ten colleges and schools—the Argyros School of Business and Economics, College of Educational Studies, Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Performing Arts, School of Pharmacy, Fowler School of Law, Schmid College of Science and Technology, and School of Communication. Programs are offered on two campuses – the Orange campus and the new Rinker healthcare and graduate campus in Irvine. Chapman is ranked in the top tier of western universities and is consistently ranked as the number one “up and coming university” in the western region by U.S. News & World Report.
