The American Association of State Colleges and Universities — Vice President for Leadership Development and Member Services

The American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), located in Washington DC, is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as its next Vice President for Leadership Development and Member Services (VP-LDMS). Under the general direction of President Muriel Howard, and in collaboration with the other Vice Presidents, the Vice President for Leadership Development and Member Services provides leadership for the creation, management and successful implementation of programs and activities in membership recruitment and retention; conference-related thought leadership, programming and logistics–including registration, leadership and oversight of corporate sponsorships; and related areas for AASCU members and their constituents. The Vice President serves on President Howard’s Executive Council and directs the staff in the Membership Services Division. With a broad and diverse portfolio in a longstanding and innovative higher education association, the VP-LDMS thrives both on leadership and innovation, and on management skills.

Leadership development and service to its members feature prominently among AASCU’s strategic priorities. With a primary focus on and support for the president or chancellor, and with complementary programs and services for the presidential leadership team and for women and racial/ethnic minorities who aspire to leadership roles, AASCU offers a range of programs and resources to its members.

In realizing AASCU’s commitment to its members, the Vice President for Leadership Development and Member Services oversees a broad portfolio that includes the organization and delivery of programs and services; in addition, the VP-LDMS portfolio includes coordination and support for events in other divisions of the association.

AASCU’s next Vice President for Leadership Development and Member Services will bring a passion for the mission of public higher education and will provide strategic vision for the creation and delivery of programs and other member services that support and advance the mission and priorities of AASCU and its members.
