Historically Black Mississippi Valley State University has announced that is it offering a new master’s degree program in sports administration. Students will have the option of a concentration in international sports, intercollegiate sports, or sport leadership. The new graduate program will be administered by the department of health, physical education, and recreation.
Gloria Ross chair of the department of health, physical education, and recreation at Mississippi Valley State University, stated that “our idea was to create a dynamic and competitive program by making innovative and major contributions to this growing field of study both domestically and abroad, while also providing excellent research opportunities. The program will enhance the students’ skills and offer assets that will make them more marketable.”
Dr. Ross stated that 45 students have applied for admission to the program. The 33 hours of coursework will include both online and classroom instruction.
